Viennese sound culture in the spirit of Fritz Kreisler.
Biography
The Fritz Kreisler Ensemble was founded in 2006, the Mozart year, by René Staar and Holger Groh; its artistic director is René Staar. The ensemble takes its name from the great Viennese violinist and composer Fritz Kreisler, whose charm and sound culture it carries into the present day.
Its pure string formation of violins, violas, cellos and double bass is made up of members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera Orchestra.
Alongside works by Fritz Kreisler, its programmes feature compositions by Mozart, the Haydn brothers, Schubert, Dvořák, Tchaikovsky and Hugo Wolf.
