In the trade press, he is simply considered a “phenomenon”

Philippe Entremont’s extraordinary career began at the age of eighteen when he performed with impressive success at New York’s Carnegie Hall, playing Jolivet’s Piano Concerto and Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1, which brought him to international attention. Since then he has had a worldwide career as a pianist and has also been active as a conductor for the last 40 years.

He has performed and recorded under the baton of renowned conductors such as Eugene Ormandy, Leopold Stokowski, Fritz Reiner, Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa, Pierre Boulez and others. During his career he gave over 7000 concerts worldwide, including more than 100 performances with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Philippe Entremont has conducted leading symphony orchestras in Europe such as the Vienna Symphony, the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Santa Cecilia Orchestra in Rome and the Orchestre National de France. In Asia he has worked with the China Philharmonic and the Tokyo NHK, and in America he has conducted the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and numerous other orchestras. He has also worked with the world’s most outstanding soloists, both instrumentalists and singers. He is Honorary Conductor for Life of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra.

In 2017, he performed in the USA, Europe and France. In 2018, he gave concerts in China, Mexico and Europe and was appointed chairman of the jury of the Enescu Piano Competition. Furthermore, he established his summer piano residency in Fontainebleau. In 2019, he continued his performances in China and Europe and recorded his “Icologram” (www.icologram.com) in the legendary Chaux de Fonds Hall in Switzerland in mid-November, making him the first famous living artist to have his hologram recorded.

Since October 2019, he has led a piano class each year at the Schola Cantorum in Paris for highly gifted students. In 2020, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, all his concerts in China (including a recital at NCPA-Beijing for the Piano Virtuosos Season and Shenzen) and in Europe were postponed. In June 2022, he was President of the Jury of the Arthur Nikisch Conducting Competition in Sofia, Bulgaria. After more than 2 years of silence due to the pandemic, he will perform at the NCPA in Beijing on 8 September 2023 to open the new Piano Virtuosos Season.

Philippe Entremont is now continuing his recordings. His latest albums, released in September 2021, include the two Mozart piano quartets and a solo piano recording.

Philippe Entremont is a Commander of the French Legion of Honour, Commander of the Order of Merit and Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters, as well as a recipient of the Grand Cross for Services to the Republic of Austria.[/show_more]
