22-year old Japanese-American violinist Ryu Goto is an international classical music superstar and one of the most successful artists of his generation, with a large and growing fan base in Asia, North America and Europe. Through his technique, dedication to his art and personal charisma, Ryu is changing the way people think about- and listen to classical music.

Music Career
Ryu's career as a professional artist was launched at the age of seven, when he made his debut at Sapporo, Japan's Pacific Music Festival, where he played all movements of Paganini's Violin Concerto No.1. Over his career, Ryu has played to sold-out audiences at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Tokyo Suntory Hall, Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, Taipei Taiwan's National Concert Hall, Seoul Arts Center, The Kyoto Concert Hall, the Munich Herkulessaal, and Vienna's Musikverein.

In August 2010, Ryu appeared as featured violin soloist under the baton of Maestro Tan Dun, who's "Martial Arts Triology" was featured for three days at Shanghai EXPO 2010's EXPO Cultural Center and the Shanghai Grand Theatre.

Ryu's recordings are issued by Deutsche Grammophon in collaboration with Universal Classics Japan. Ryu's violin is the 1715 Stradivarius, known both as the 'Ex-Pierre Rode' and the 'Duke of Cambridge'. The instrument is on loan to him from the NPO "Yellow Angel".

Television, Radio and Print Work
In addition to his celebrated music career, Ryu Goto has made numerous, successful forays into radio, television and magazine features, including his own TV show in Japan, commercial endorsements and documentaries. These include the Fuji TV series "Ryu Goto's Odyssey", which followed the career and personal paths of Ryu from 1996-2006 and his long-running partnership as official spokesperson for the East Japan Railway Company.

Philanthropic Work
Ryu also contributes significant time, effort and talent to the fostering of young musical talent, and to the promotion of classical music to audiences young and old. Most recently, he established, with the New York City Department Of Education and S&R Technology Holdings the "Ryu Goto Excellence In Music" initiative- a far reaching program designed to promote, cultivate and reward music talent in and appreciation of classical music in the New York City public school system. This program includes the presentation by Ryu of the annual "Ryu Goto Excellence In Music Award And Scholarship"- a $1,000 scholarship that is presented to a student musician as chosen by the conductor of the NYC All-City Orchestra.

Personal Life
Ryu Goto's activities outside classical music find him currently majoring in undergrad physics at Harvard University, where he is in his senior year. Additionally, he is a Black Belt in Karate and enjoys playing the guitar.
